SemiNex Closes Series B to Scale InP Photonics for AI Data Centers

Danvers, MA - SemiNex Corporation, a U.S.-based leader in high-performance indium phosphide (InP) semiconductor lasers and optical amplifiers, announces the successful close of its Series B financing round. The investment will support SemiNex’s expansion into next-generation AI data center photonics and accelerate adoption of optical interconnects for artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and emerging quantum applications.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Danvers, Massachusetts, SemiNex designs and manufactures proprietary InP laser diodes and semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) delivering industry-leading optical output power, thermal efficiency, and electrical performance. These capabilities are increasingly critical as AI workloads drive a fundamental shift from copper-based electrical interconnects to high-bandwidth, low latency optical architectures. “As AI workloads scale, the industry is discovering that photons and not electrons determine the economics of the data center,” said Ronald Moore, CEO of SemiNex. “This capital raise allows us to expand manufacturing and supply the high-performance InP light sources that enable optical architectures to scale efficiently, predictably, and sustainably.”

Proceeds from the Series B will fund the expansion of SemiNex’s cleanroom, including investments in advanced automated testing and inspection systems to support volume production of known-good die. This expansion strengthens the company’s ability to meet growing demand from hyperscale data center operators and optical module and system providers seeking reliable, high-power photonic building blocks.
